Cross Country (Nordic) Skiing in The Callaghan Valley, BC Canada.

The Callaghan Valley is now considered one of Canada’s premiere Cross Country Ski Destinations, and the area will only grow in popularity with the opening of the Callaghan Valley Nordic Centre in December, 2008. The new Nordic Centre will play host to all of the Nordic and Ski Jumping events of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

There are miles, or kilometres, of classic track- set cross country ski trails track throughout the Callaghan Valley area. Skate skiing trails have also been set. There are endless skiing opportunities here for cross country skiers of all abilities. The rolling terrain is perfect for beginner and intermediate skiers, while advanced skiers will find challenges galore with the incredible variety of terrain. Callaghan has always offered some of the of the best cross country skiing in Canada, and with the addition of the Olympic facilities and venues, it will only get better.

Popular trips for Nordic skiers from our lodge in the Callaghan Valley include skiing out to the base of a stunning glacier or along the shores of a frozen alpine lake. Or guided backcountry ski touring either AT or Telemark.

The Callaghan Valley Nordic Centre will be hosting regional, national world and international cross country ski events over the next three years leading up to the 2010 Olympics Winter Games.

While the best cross country skiers in the world have to wait until 2010 in order to experience the Nordic skiing here, those seeking a great workout in a spectacular setting close to Whistler can experience it all winter long right now.
