Come Ski the Callaghan Valley and discover some of the continent's finest groomed cross-country ski trails, wilderness snowshoe loops and backcountry Nordic and alpine touring terrain.
Winter dates of day-use operation are Nov. 21, 2009 - Jan. 31, 2010 and Mar. 1, 2010 - May 2, 2010. The Callaghan Valley will not be open for public skiing between Feb. 1 - 28, 2010 as our neighbours at Whistler Olympic Park get ready to host the Nordic events the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, taking place February 12 - 28, 2010.
Please note that our backcountry Nordic inn, Callaghan Lodge, will be open through February for overnight accommodation and all of Callaghan Country's 42 km of trails will be open for the enjoyment of our overnight guests. Please visit our Overnight Rates & Packages page for more details.
We have partnered with
Whistler Olympic Park again this season, so skiers will be able to enjoy both the Callaghan Country and Whistler Olympic Park trail systems with the purchase of a single day ticket or season pass.
This winter ALL cross-country ski and snowshoe trails in the Callaghan Valley will be accessed via the Callaghan Country base to enable VANOC, operator of Whistler Olympic Park, to focus on the successful delivery of the 2010 Nordic events.
Even though Whistler Olympic Park's day lodge, competition trails, parking lots, biathlon and ski jumping facilities will be closed this season, there will still be about 70 km of cross-country ski trails open to suit people of every ability level, along with several kms of snowshoe trails and over 1,000 hectares of prime Nordic and alpine ski touring terrain. Lessons and rentals will also be available, along with retail services, packaged snacks and beverages.
A word about parking: We expanded our parking lot this past summer to compensate for the increased traffic (with VANOC’s help). The lot will be able to handle at least 220 vehicles, and possibly up to 250. That’s an increase of at least 165% over last season!
A special note for dog owners: Our lower snowshoe loops have been designated as "dog-friendly,", as has the first 5km of our Wild Spirit multi-use trail (now called "Real Life"). This makes for a beautiful 10 km ski (out and back) for you and your canine companion. Please note that Whistler Olympic Park's "Pooched" loop will not be open this season. Please make sure your dog is under your care and control at all times, and don't forget to scoop the poop!
