Whether arriving for the first time or returning from an exhilarating day’s ski or hike, the sense of how simple and rewarding life can be pervades as one sits in the foyer taking in the exquisite warmth of the handcrafted Lodge. Relax and re-hydrate with a glass of fresh mountain water or herbal tea. Our resident Lodge Hosts, Evan and Kirsti Boland are devoted to ensuring your stay is as comfortable as possible.
They will be pleased to show you to one of our eight cozy rooms before joining with the other guests for appetizers in the lounge. Share stories and photographs with your Lodge companions of your day’s journey. After re-energizing, many of our guests find the late afternoon the perfect time to familiarize themselves with the Lodge. Enjoy a good read from our library in front of the fireplace, or cozy up on one of the day beds and relax. Now is the perfect time to sneak off on a five-minute hike down to the secluded traditional Finnish sauna nestled in by Solitude Creek. Bathing suits optional. It is Finnish!
Feel free to peek into our well-appointed kitchen, chat with Evan and staff and watch them create their magic. The meals here are legendary. While the hospitality is sometimes described as being rustic-luxe, the meals are second to none. Feel free to open your own favorite bottle of wine.
After dinner you may want to take a short snowshoe around the area, maybe unwind and retreat to the living room, perhaps a game of Scrabble or cribbage from our games cupboard, or maybe another cup of coffee at the dining table with your new friends…and, if you are quick, the sauna should still be beckoning.
In the morning let the smells of freshly brewed coffee, crackling fireplace and breakfast entice you from your cozy down comforter. A well endowed continental breakfast awaits you at 7:30 am and is always a feast for everyone’s taste-buds. After breakfast we distribute the gourmet bag lunches to those intrepid adventurers whose travels will not avail them to the warmth of our dining room at noon. At this time the staff will be pleased to help you plan your day’s hike or ski to one of the many legendary ski slopes or secret stashes of majestic natural wonder that abounds outside the front door. We have detailed maps for sale and several years of personal experience in the area to help you choose the best destination for the day be it short and picturesque to strenuous and rewarding.
Guests that have opted to remain in close proximity to the Lodge either resting, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or hiking are welcome back to the dining room at noon for a chef select soup and sandwich of the day followed by a sweet treat to help you get through the afternoon.
