LEGENDARY SKIING

Like they say, “Location, Location, Location.”

There is a very real truth to the name “Powder Mountain”, and being located at the bottom of its North facing terminus, Callaghan Country Lodge knows it only too well!

The reasons for the abundance of cold dry snow is simple. The warm moist maritime air masses that move unobstructed up the valley from Howe Sound  are what give Whistler Mountain its rightful designation as a powder snow mecca.

The difference in Callaghan Country is that the same Howe Sound air mass needs to climb 2350 metres elevation and cross 7 kilometres of permanent snowfield before dropping its now super cooled, fluffy, abundance down on the wind protected Callaghan Valley.

The result is an  average annual snowpack of 680 centimetres and an assured long ski season with colder snow. Ideal conditions for both x-country skiers and alpine ski tourers alike.
