Summer Backcountry Lodge Rates

Callaghan Lodge is open for weekend reservations beginning Saturday, July 17 and continuing through until Sunday, August 29.  Midweek reservations for groups of six or more can be arranged with advance notice. The lodge is open for daily reservations from Wednesday, September 1 - Monday, October 11, 2010.

The lodge is situated in the upper Callaghan Valley, 4.5 km west of Callaghan Lake. In the summer, guests can drive as far as Callaghan Lake (4WD and / or good clearance vehicle recommended) and then hike in to the lodge on a well-marked hiking trail. Or, you can park at the Callaghan Country base and mountain bike up the 12.5 km Wild Spirit trail to access the lodge.

You have complete flexibility when it comes to deciding on the details of your stay.

First, choose your length of stay:

Unlike many other backcountry lodges, there is no minimum night stay requirement at Callaghan Lodge. At only 2 hours from Vancouver (to Callaghan Lake), a trip to Callaghan Country makes for a fabulous weekend getaway.

Please note that from July 17 - August 29, the lodge is only open for weekend reservations (Friday - Sunday). Mid-week bookings can be arranged for groups of six or more. The lodge opens for daily operations on September 1.

Next, choose your accommodation style:

OPTION 1: STANDARD ROOMS

There are five standard rooms located on the third floor. These cozy rooms are similar to the berths found on a ship - we refer to them as sleeping nooks. Three of the rooms feature queen beds and two come with twin beds. Guests in these rooms share two bathrooms and a shower room.

OPTION 2: SUPERIOR ROOMS

There are two larger superior 'hotel-style' rooms (each with a queen bed) located on the second floor of the lodge. Each superior room has a private bathroom and a small deck.

OPTION 3: SOLITUDE SUITE

Our finest room is the deluxe Solitude Suite, which features a bedroom (with a queen bed), ensuite, private living room (with pull-out sofa), loft (with pull-out sofa and two twin bunks), and a large private deck. The Solitude Suite can be booked for 2 - 8 people.

Summer check in is at Callaghan Lodge. Check in is 3:00pm. Please allow 2 hours to hike in and 30 - 45 minutes to drive from the Callaghan Country base (9km up from Hwy 99 on the paved Callaghan Valley access road) to Callaghan Lake. The road is rough; 4WD / high clearance vehicle is recommended.

Packages include 2-nights of accommodation, a western-saddled horse and the accompaniment of a professional guide (supplied by Copper Cayuse Outfitters), along with all meals (bagged lunch, afternoon tea and a 4-course dinner on Day 1, continental breakfast, bagged lunch, afternoon tea and a 4-course dinner on Day 2, and a continental breakfast and bagged lunch on Day 3).

Please check in at the Callaghan Country base at 10am. The horseback ride to the lodge will take approximately 5 hours.

Group Lodge Rental

  

Callaghan Lodge is an ideal venue for group retreats of every kind - corporate getaways, family reunions, weddings, milestone birthday parties....

With 8 bedrooms and three pull-out couches the lodge can comfortably sleep up to 24 people (9 couples and 6 singles), or up to 15 singles.

The following rate is based on a maximum group size of 24 people for overnight stays or up to 40 people for day trips.

Summer lodge rental (24 hours): $2,700.00
Price is quoted in Canadian funds and does not include the 12% Harmonized Sales Tax or gratuities. Price is subject to change without notice.

The price includes use of the lodge for 24 hours and the services of two lodge hosts. Depending on the nature of the event and the size of your group, more staff may be required and will be subject to additional charges.

Please note that the price does not include pre-event or day-of event coordination, food or beverage, luggage / equipment transfers, guides or equipment.

 

 

Getting to the Lodge

Self-Drive / Hike

Most summer guests access the lodge by driving to Callaghan Lake and then hiking the remaining distance on a well-marked 4.5 km hiking trail. It is about 18km from the turnoff at Highway 99 to Callaghan Lake. The first 9km is paved and the last 9km is a rough gravel road. 4WD is recommended.

Self-Drive / Mountain Bike

For those who would like to mountain bike to the lodge, we suggest parking at our lower base - just above Alexander Falls. From there, follow the Callaghan Mainline (Forest Service Road) approximately 500m and then turn left at Wild Spirit Trail. From there, it is 12.5 km to Callaghan Lodge on a rough track. There are several steep climbs on the way (elevation gain is 560m), but the ride out is fast and fun.

Luggage / Equipment Transfer

Summer packages do not include a luggage transfer but for groups who would prefer to hike or bike in unencumbered, we can arrange to meet you at the lower Callaghan Country base so we can bring in your gear via ATV.

ATV with trailer: $175 / hour (minimum 3 hours)
The price does not include the 12% HST. A return transfer using an ATV and trailer takes about 3 hours. Maximum: 100 lbs per load. **Please note this service is extremely limited and offered at the discretion of our operations team based on conditions and staff availability.**

Helicopter

Helicopter Service is provided by Blackcomb Helicopters. Flights depart from the Whistler Municipal Helipad, approximately 5 minutes Northeast of Whistler Village on Highway 99.

It takes approximately 12 minutes to reach the lodge. Blackcomb Helicopters uses AStar and TwinStar helicopters. Each helicopter seats up to 5 passengers.
