Winter Activities

Cross country skiing - Miles of track-set classic cross country ski trails surround Callaghan Lodge. The rolling terrain is perfect for beginner and intermediate skiers.

Snowshoeing – Experience the peace and tranquility of the Upper Callaghan valley and explore the old growth forests and sub-alpine meadows by snowshoe.

Backcountry Skiing
Join a certified A.C.M.G (Association of Canadian Mountain Guides) guide (arranged through Whistler Alpine Guides Bureau) or head out on your own to earn your turns as you take advantage of a wide selection of alpine touring slopes accessible right from the Lodge! Local areas include;

  • Ring Lake
  • Powder Mountain
  • Telemagique Lake

Exclusive day trips and Specialty programs – We offer a variety of specialty programs throughout the winter season: exclusive day trip and overnight adventures, backcountry travel clinics, recreational avalanche courses, and Nordic technique camps. Please ask us for details!


Ability Levels

 

Cross country skiing & snowshoeing: The rolling terrain is well-suited to all ages and ability levels, from rank beginner to advanced skiers.

Alpine ski & snowboard touring: All guests wishing to go alpine ski or snowboard touring MUST be AT MINIMUM strong intermediate skiers or riders, capable of handling the rigors of ascending and descending in deep powder snow conditions.

Guests must be in good physical condition and must bring their own ski or snowboard touring and safety equipment. Equipment can be arranged on request.

Any guests wishing to go ski or snowboard touring without hiring one of our professional ski guides should have previous backcountry experience, good working knowledge of terrain and snowpack assessment, and be well-practiced at self-rescue.

 

Summer Adventures

 

Currently only open for groups of 6 or more in the summer.

Heli-hiking – Get a lift up and begin your hiking adventure right at the top with a customized heli-hiking adventure. Savour panoramic views, meander through pristine alpine meadows and traverse high mountain ridgelines, all with the attention and care of a professional guide.

Nature interpretation tours – Explore the valley surrounding the Lodge with an interpretive guide. You’ll learn about trees, flowers, birds, and other wildlife indigenous to British Columbia’s Coast Mountain region, while enriching your appreciation of this spectacular natural environment.

Specialty workshops – Nurture your creativity, honour your inner spirit, and learn new skills with our specialty summer programs: nature photography, creative writing, drawing & painting, yoga / pilates, culinary workshops, guided hiking and introductory mountaineering programs.
